Description: GRADE 3 – 12 EDUCATORS! The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and Project WET program invite you to join us for a day of learning about the science of climate change from members of the DWR Climate Change team.
You will learn how the knowledge is being applied to safeguard California water supplies and coastal resources and how you can more effectively communicate climate science concepts and engage students using NOCCI Climate Communication strategies and Project WET activities back in the classroom!
Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) activities are designed to engage students of all ages — in formal and non-formal educational settings — in the study of water through interactive simulations, use of models and reality-based scenarios.
Interdisciplinary Project WET activities supplement existing curriculum and are correlated to and reinforce practices integrated within Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. These activities provide strong foundations for STEAM, Project-Based and Service Learning programs.
This is a great opportunity to interact directly with climate science staff. Participants attending this training will also:
-
receive great information on current climate science
-
an introduction to NOCCI climate change communication strategies
-
a copy of Project WET Guide 2.0
-
an opportunity to receive 0.8 CEU credit
-
light breakfast, coffee and lunch
-
and a $50 stipend following completion of the training!
